Idiyappam - Sandhagai

This breakfast dish is popular among children as the shape calls for a noodle appearance.
Earlier, I use to make them out of steamed idlis.
Whereas now, am much keen in making them out of plain rice flour.

Ingredients :
Plain Rice Flour - 2 cups
Salt - as per taste

Method : ( Squeeze machine, Idiyapam plates are reqd )

Make small portions of the flour, as the pushing-in process into the idiyapam plates are little tough.
Take a wide vessel. Place in small portion of the flour ( say 5 tbsp ) , salt, and 1 tbsp oil.

Mix them. Sametime, in a small bowl pour water and bring to hot state on stove.
You need to be quick in pouring sufficient hot water into the flour, and bring in the flour
to a dough state.
Using the ' muruku squeeze machine ' you have to do the next step.

Add in the rice dough into the ' squeeze machine ' and finely squeeze on the idiyapam plates.
Allow a cooker to steam the idiyapams for around 5 minutes to the max.
Hot, steamed idiyapams are ready.
